5 live, 60 minute virtual modules by highly skilled faculty

Engaging discussions using pop culture video clips, interactive exercises and assigned readings

On Day 1 of my residency in USA, I created confusion and concern during my welcome dinner when I told my attending I had 'passed out in 2001'. Order was restored after my senior resident announced ' Don't worry. He means he graduated in 2001.'
He then leaned over to me and whispered ' Over here, passed out means to faint...'
Transitioning into a U.S. medical residency is exciting — but it can also feel overwhelming. Beyond clinical skills, success in American healthcare depends on understanding the culture of medicine in the U.S.: communication styles, patient expectations, teamwork dynamics, and professional norms. Our crash course is designed specifically for international medical graduates (IMGs) to help you assimilate smoothly and thrive in residency.
Welcome
• Residency is more than medical knowledge and skills: It’s about adapting to an entirely different professional environment.
• Cultural fluency builds trust: Patients and colleagues expect clear communication and cultural awareness.
• Boost your confidence: Navigate daily interactions with ease, from morning rounds to patient handoffs.
• Stand out as a resident: Program directors value adaptability and professionalism as much as clinical knowledge.
